Labour Market Fact Sheet - April 2011

Unemployment in the EU fell slightly in February, while the labour market continues to show steady signs of recovery in some Member States, according to the latest Monthly Labour Market Fact Sheet published by the Commission. Despite the moderate economic recovery though, conditions are generally set to remain weak for some time, while unemployment is still persistently high in some Member States. The unemployment rate at EU level, after remaining remarkably stable at 9.6% for twelve months until January 2011, and fell by 0.1 percentage points (pps) to 9.5% in February for the first time since the onset of the crisis. The decline in employment has stopped as of the second quarter last year.
