The Economic and Legal Aspects of Transfers of Players

Study carried out for the European Commission, Directorate-General for Education and Culture



The objective of the study is to deepen our knowledge about transfer rules in sport in the EU, notably in football and basketball, its governance and operations. The document seeks to map the rules that govern transfers in the EU,assessing their efficiency and impact at both economic and social levels. It considers the importance of transfers in the economy of sport. The study will provide conclusions and recommendations on the need for action.
