The paper analyses the impact of digital technologies and of AI on the quantity, quality and distribution of employment; it acknowledges the uncertainty of most forecasts, and also the argument that AI could empower employees to perform qualified jobs provided that they are appropriately educated. Much depends on whether Ai is used to substitute or to complement human expertise.
The paper discusses which chances in firms organisations are necessary to allow collaboration between workers and intelligent machines. It argues that AI can help to prevent work accidents but also to create new psychosocial risks; it concludes by recalling the need of a human centric approach to AI.
