Il saggio riproduce la relazione tenuta al convegno ”Words of hope: harmonic innovation”, Catanzaro, 23 settembre 2026
This paper addresses the implications of the new realities of work and enterprise, and of people's expectations, for legal and policy choices. It draws on the encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, which stresses the need to organize work around people's needs, enhancing their skills and training so as to enrich the meaning of work.
The paper also underscores the importance of affirming the social role of the enterprise, beyond the sole interest of shareholders, and highlights how this approach is linked to European legislation that holds companies accountable for sustainability objectives and for the control of digital technologies and AI.
It further examines the potential uses of artificial intelligence to improve work and workplace safety.
Finally, it recalls the guidance of the Church's social doctrine as support for the choices of institutions and social partners.
