WP C.S.D.L.E. “Massimo D’Antona”.IT – 471/2023

The paper aims to reconsider the great dichotomy of subordination and self-employment through the prism of the “new poverty”.
The social and statistical dimension of in-work poverty, which cuts across the social stratification, is an element that contributes to making the traditional analysis, based just on abstract legal categories, (even) less acceptable than in the past.
The old and new working poor could be better protected through purposive, diversified strategies, not legal conceptualizations. The Author proposes four different strategies for a renewed “remedial approach”.
